Around the end of last month, the remains of a man who had died seven years previously was found in his flat in Valencia.
The discovery was made by his own brother because he hadn’t heard from him in ‘a while’ and decided to visit him at 20.00h one Tuesday evening. The concerned brother had brought a locksmith with him, which is how he had managed to gain entry.
The man, who was 38 when he died in 2011, had had problems with drugs during his life and had inherited the flat.
Seven years ago he had commented to friends and relatives that he was going to move to Santander.
Over the years a neighbour had noticed a foul smell coming from the flat, but though that it was from the excrement of dogs and cats that lived with the man – the neighbour had blocked the gap under his own door to keep the stench out…
