Paqui, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, disappeared in Salobreña on Saturday the 3rd, around one in the afternoon. The last place she had been seen was in the Plaza del Lavadero in La Caleta.

As soon as her disappearance was reported to the police, a missing-person search was launched comprising of the Policía Local, Guardia Civil and the Protección Civil- the police including tracker dogs.

The Mayor, María Eugenia Rufino, says that it is a search effort without parallel in the town and thanks everybody for their help and solidarity.

The fact is that so many people in town have been out searching, on bicycles, walking, in cars, looking in every corner of the municipality and then going back and doing it again.

After being suspended this second night of her disappearance, the search began again this morning at 08.00h.

Update 10:49h: The body of the missing woman has just been found in a barranco next to Hotel Best Western Salobreña.
