CD Almuñécar City start 2018 with solid win in Granada
Having ended 2017 on top of the 3a Andaluza CD Almuñécar were keen to get 2018 off to a flying start in their trip to Granada Base.
CDAC gave a debut to former Swansea City and Yeovil Town player Kyle Copp on the right of a three man attack.
With the squad unable to train in advance of Sunday’s game, they put in an effective performance throughout the 90 minutes with Nacho Checa untested throughout.
Balta and Ivan were dominant in the middle of defence with Jermy, Mikkelson and Tomi controlling the midfield.
It was great work on the right by Copp that created the chance for Mikkelson to open the scoring; the Dane’s low, left-footed shot taking a deflection and looping into the top corner.
In the second half City were constantly on the front foot searching for the second goal. It came from a ball from deep which saw Diego chase down the Granada central defender, force the error and slide the ball home.
With several new signings arriving for training on Monday, competition for places in the Almuñécar side will be fierce.
They return to the Estadio Municipal Francisco Bonet next Saturday (13 Jan) for a 17:00h kick off against Padul. You can reserve your ticket via the Facebook page here.
