The Mayor of Motril, Flor Almón, went to Sevilla for a meeting with the Junta’s Ministry of Public Works concerning the proposed Industrial Estate behind Motril Port.

The Junta has already made its own calculations for the said industrial estate and the Centro de Transportes y Mercancías (port lorry park) and indicated that the go ahead is very close.

The first step will be the signing of an agreement between the Junta, the Town Hall and owners of the earmarked land, which is a regional administrative body called Avra (a public housing agency). Most of the financing will be provided by the Junta.

Avra had been dragging its heels so the Junta has issued a mild rebuke to move them along.

The money for both the industrial estate and the port lorry park will be earmarked in the 2018 budget – only when the Town Hall sees that it has indeed been included in the budget once it has been published, will they break out the party balloons and crack open the champagne.
