The footpath along the N-340 in Almuñécar, between the P-4 junction and where Avenida Príncipe de Asturias comes out on the main road, is nearly finished.
The Councillor for Public Works, José Manuel Fernández Medina, explained that first they had to built a rockfill along the bank above the lorry park to provide the necessary width for the footpath.
First of all, however, the Town Hall needed permission from the Ministry of Roads (Transport) because they were working on the verge of a main road, much like if you want to carry out work near a water course, (barranco, river) you need permission from the Southern Water Board. If you need to carry out work near the coast, you might as well forget it.
