Fancy a trip up to the Alpujarra? It will be worth it because up to Sunday the 15th of October Pampaneira will be holding its annual fair.

The XXXI Feria de Artesanía, Turismo y Agricultura Ecológica de la Alpujarra, which began on Thursday, is one of the oldest in the area (comarca). The mayors of Órgiva, Soportújar, Bubión, Capileira and Cáñar were there for the inauguration.

There are around 30 stalls, offering a variety of local products, such as cheese and wines, as well as jamón, homemade marmalades, chocolate and sweets in general. There are also traditionally woven fabrics in the form of carpets, etc.

So why not have a day out in the Alpujarra and visit Pampaneira; a village of 318 inhabitants, situated on the hillside of the Barranco de Poqueira.
