A Motril Taekwondo trainer was in Pyongyang in South Korea, taking part in the 20th ITF World Taekwondo Championship, taking the 5th place.

José Tomás Salas Povedano had already participated in the European Championships in April this year, which was held in Liverpool, together with fellow Motril trainer, Lucía Suarez, where they both classified amongst the top ten.

During some moments the Motrileño was in fourth place and would have been a medalist, but finally he lost the 4th slot, but even so, the peronal achievment and the prestige for his club and the town of Motril is massive.

The recent increase in tension in South Korea owing to the deteriorating political situation between the US and North Korea has caused some doubt amongst the participants representing the 70 countries involved over safety matters and whether to attend or not.
