The Almuñécar Town Hall will pay homage to the Fajardo, bus-company founder, Juan Fajardo, this Thursday at the as part of the International-Day-of-Tourism celebrations.
Juan, who died from cancer several months ago, set up a transport company that originally covered the Lentegí-Almuñécar bus service, after branching out from a small trucking business.
In later years, the company, which has its office in the same building as the municipal bus station, acquired more coaches and operated further afield. Today, one of his sons, Sergio, is a partner in the catamaran-operating coastal tours on the Costa Tropical.
A deserved recognition for a self-made man who started driving a lorry and ended up with a large, successful, public-services, transport company.
Juan, whom I knew personally, was a very popular and respected man in the whole of the Valle Río Verde and I would like to express my condolences to his family and congratulation for this well deserved posthumous accolade.
