Romans, Pianos & Candles

ALM Aqueduct ConcertTonight at 22.00h you will have the chance to attend a concert set in front of the Roman Aqueduct in Almuñécar… if you are lucky, because seats are limited.

Swiss pianist, David Gómez will give a piano recital in this magic setting, entitled: 200 Candles and a Piano. It has that title because the only lighting will be candlelight, and a couple of flood lights under the arches, obviously. The Romans would have used human torches…

This panoramic setting for a concert has been used for four consecutive years, and so far nobody has set light to the mountainside (despite 200 burning candles). This is mainly because whilst rockers might pour lighter fuel over an electric guitar and throw it into the audience, lifting a piano in flames and hurling it requires far more determination, perhaps.

So what will be knocked out on the wax-spattered ivories? The works of Piazzolla, M. de Falla, Chopin and more.

You can get your tickets at Viajes Ecuador on the Paseo del Altillo. Alternatively, you could always mug somebody who has already bought one – your mother-in-law, for example… just saying!
