Elderly Couple Rescued

Two policemen from the Policía Nacional in the city of Granada managed to rescue an elderly man from a fire in his 1st-floor flat.

The policemen also aided the elderly wife who had made it outside by the time they had arrived. The man was found on the stairs in the smoke.

Both people, aged 77 and 78, were hospitalised with smoke inhalation. The couple’s three cats however, perished.

The incident occurred around midnight in the said dwelling, situated in the Mirador de San Cristóbal in Granada. Neighbours called 091, hence the presence of the two policemen (091 is the emergency number for the Policía Nacional)

The policemen found a hose in the gardened area and started to tackled the blaze until the fire service arrive, who put it out.
