Salobreña Parking Eliminated

SAL Summer Parking Chaos 2Locals in Salobreña are more than a little miffed that, at the doors of San Juan, the small parking area near the Peñon roundabout has been ripped up.

The beaches are packed and cars drive around and around looking for somewhere to park, but the large summer parking areas have disappeared, mostly because of the TH1 (hotels) work and secondly because of the paseo project that has dynamited the western end of the paseo… and right in the middle of an out-of-season heatwave that has rammed the beaches with holidaymakers.

SAL Summer Parking ChaosThe question is, where are visitors going to park this summer with all the normal extra parking areas for summer closed? So desperate is the situation that some people have taken to parking in the Supersol carpark and walking down to the beach, as one Salobreña resident informed us.

In the second photograph, a Guardia Civil patrol car passed by and saw the car parked completely on the pavement in the middle of the roundabout and just drove past, probably understanding the desperation of drivers to find somewhere to park, if only momentarily, to unload their beach stuff.
