A 42-year-old British woman was allegedly stabbed in the back by her husband using a large knife.

The incident took place in the morning of Tuesday the 13th of June in Orihuela (Alicante).

The police are searching for the husband, a 53-year-old taxi driver, also British, but to-date they have not managed to find him.

The incident came to light at nine in the morning when the daughter arrived at the house in Urbanización Pinar de Campoamor, to find her mother on the floor in a pool of blood with a knife in sticking out of her back.

She immediately called the emergency number 112 and when the paramedics arrived they were able to stabilize the woman’s condition sufficiently to rush her to hospital, where her state is described as ‘serious.’
