The Motril Air Show beat its own expectations and attracted 70,000 spectators – they had hoped for 60,000, but it’s hardly suprising with the hardware on show.

The harrier, the HE-24 helicopter and the SH-60B one, not to mention the Jas 39 Grippen belonging to the Hungarian Air Force and the C.16 Eurofighter. Just as spectacular, thanks to their aerobatics were the Patrulla PAPEA (air force display team), the light aircraft from the Club de Málaga, the Escuela de Vuelo de Ultraligeros Australis, the private helicopter based in Motril, Tropicopter and, of course, the parachutists with the huge Spanish flag landing directly on the beach.

Congratulations to José Miguel Pérez Juárez, (Asociación ORION) who organised the air show, whose efforts attracted more spectators than ever before.

Of course, the unseen but very necessary volunteers also deserve praise: proteccion civil, the ambulance staff on hand, as well as the essential presence of the Policia Local and Guardia Civil, all of whom requiring coordination.

Defininately a date for the diary next year and a fantastic tourist-attraction asset not only for Motril, where it was hosted, but for the whole of the Costa Tropical.
