The Policía Nacional, with the help of the Policia Local, arrested a woman in Motril accused of entering people’s homes in order to remove items of value.
The 30-year-old woman, who has a criminal record, allegedly took advantage of front doors being open, or unlocked, to enter and steal handbags, mainly, but anything small and of value to hand.
In this fashion the woman is suspected of having carried of burglaries in eight different homes within Motril and Calahonda.
Not only this, but the woman is also suspected of pick-pocketing somebody’s wallet, as well as carrying a snatch-and-run theft, getting away with a handbag containing, amongst other valuables, a mobile phone worth 900 euros.
Even though the Policía Nacional were looking for the woman, having found out who she was, it was the Policía Local who finally arrested her.
A house owner had phoned in to say that she had come face-to-face with a thief inside her home. The woman, having been discovered, fled the house with the woman’s handbag.
The Policía tracked her down and arrested her. It was whilst she was being processed at their police station that they realised that it was the same woman that the Policía Nacional were searching for, so they handed her over into their custody.
