Another Vega Fire

SAL Vega FireYet another vega fire in Salobreña, this one on Friday the 7th April – firemen took from 19.00h to 01.30h the next morning to put it out.

However, owing to the type vegetation; cane and reeds, the fire consumed about two hectares of land before it could be brought under control and eventually extinguished. Two fire engines and six firemen from Motril were needed to put the fire out

The trouble with these reoccurring vega fires, which are almost certainly cases of arson, is that they put at risk the cortijos and farmers’ tool sheds in the area.
