Badlands Walk

Almeria walk OnLThe landscape could be right out of a Western but in reality the Almuñécar hikers were stomping around the Almería Alpujarra one Sunday

The actual starting point for the organised walk was Alboloduy. Not long into the walk, the hikers saw one of the most important archeaological sites in the whole of Europe, explained the two municipal guides, Enrique Garín and Francisco Novo: the Bronze-Age site, Los Millares.

This circular route also took them through this interesting gully in the Rambla de Los Yesos, full of colours and geological formations. There they had lunch at a picnic site called Salto de Caballo.

ALM Almeria Walk 02 OnLFrom there they stomped down the Rambla de Los Arquillos, which also has many abrupt formations, which wouldn’t have looked out of place in a Western film.

Anyway, the next walk will be on the 9th of April and will take in Frigiliana-Venta Vivario, which will takes walkers along a South-North route through the Parque Natural de la Sierras de Almijara y Tejeda.
