Palm Maintenance in Motril

MOT Plaza de las Palmeras OnLThe Motril Town Hall informs that the pruning of the town’s trees, especially the palm trees, continues and is at present taking place on Calle Marquesa de Esquilache.

The relevant Councillor, Gloria Chica explained that this work would progress to include Plaza de Las Palmeras and the Plaza de la Tranvía.

The palms in the square of the same name are, in some cases 15 metres in height, which will require machinery (cherry pickers) both to prune and to carry out anti-palm-weevil (picudo rojo) treatment.

Some of these palm trees are nearly a 100-years old, she explained, adding that the ones on the Paseo de las Explanadas had already been cleaned and treated.

Lastly, she said that during this month and the next the municipal flowerbeds would be receiving new flowering plants, so that all would be ready for Semana Santa.
