Two Moroccans Arrested

ALM Confiscated weapons OnLTwo Moroccan men were arrested in La Herradura, suspected of carrying out a mugging, armed with sizeable machetes, according to the Head of Police.

The incident took place just after 18.00h on Sunday the 28th of January and resulted in locals alerting the police: two men were attacking another with machetes. A police patrol was immediately dispatched.

However, before they could arrive they were informed that the two alleged attackers had boarded a bus for Almuñécar. Another police unit was there at the station to meet them when the Alsa bus arrived.

The two men, 20-year-old H.M.H. and 31-year-old M.B., offered resistance to arrest but to no avail. They were relieved of their machetes, both with 45cm blades, as well as a sheath knife with a 10cm blade. They also had balaclavas (pasamontañas).

Both men were taken to the Guardia Civil post cells where they await appearing before a judge.

The victim, also a Moroccan, was identified as 22-year-old F.M.M. and was attended to at the Almuñécar medical centre, initially before being transferred to Hospital Santa Ana in Motril to have his gashed thumb stitched up.
