A 46-year-old suspected thief, who allegedly targeted four parked cars, has been arrested in Motril by the Policía Nacional.
It was an off-duty policeman in the early hours who came face-to-face with the suspect, who had piled several items on the pavement, amongst them a tool box and cordless drill.
The give away was a broken padlock. The toolbox contained two pairs of pliers, two torches, rubber gloves and the said broken padlock.
The off-duty policeman immediately phoned his police station and within moments a patrol was at the scene.
Searching the suspect the policemen discovered several shards of glass in his jacket pockets.
The policemen that proceeded to arrested the suspect and confiscate the items in his possession. At the police station they were soon able to link the said articles to those reported missing from cars that had been broken into.
The suspect is awaiting an appearance before a judge.
