Salobreña Supermarket Robbery

Thieves attempted an unusual shoplifting theft at a large supermarket in Salobreña on Monday the 23rd leaving two workers  injured. What was the booty? Two sacks of potatoes.

Just how they thought that they could walk out of the store with 20-kilo sacks on their shoulders without being seen might sound pretty comical, but there reaction upon being challenged was far from a laughing matter.

When two employees attempted to block their escape, they received punches and kicks, resulting in one getting a broken nose and the other cuts and bruises.

While this scuffle was going on, another employee had phoned the Guardia Civil, who turned up just as the thieves had managed get by the workers who had challenged them. Not even then did their violent attitude cease because they resisted arrest.

The two culprits are both Romanian and live in a small coastal town near Alicante, one of whom has an extensive criminal record.
