Andrés Segovia 2017

lhr-segovia-guitar-2017-onlLa Herradura is gearing up for the XXXII Certamen Internacional de Guitarra Clásica, Andrés Segovia, which will be held between the 17th and 21st of January.

Firstly, this yearly event has been moved back to its traditional month, January, instead of November and secondly, this year there will be no composition section to this world-renowned, classical-guitar competition.

Also, this year includes a homage to Andrés Segovia on this 30th anniversary of his death.

The judging panel includes past winners, such as Cuban-German, Joaquín Clerch, who won the 1990 competition, as well as Franz Haslàz from Germany, the winner from 1993.

The competition will be presided over by Diego Martínez Martínez, who is the Chairman of the Festival Internacional de Música y Danza, Granada and the competition Secretary is a Professor at the History and Science Department of the University of Granada, Joaquín López González.

The competition opens on Tuesday the 17th of January with the official inscription ceremony at 13.00h in the Centro Cívico, where the order of performances will be established.

On the final day, Saturday the 21st, after having passed two elimination phases, the finals will be held with the backing of an orchestra.

The winner will walk away with 10,000 euros and a top-class guitar worth some 5,200 euros, as well as a performance slot at the Festival Internacional de Música y Danza de Granada later in the year.
