There has been a big drugs bust on a nationwide level, with two local boys being swept up: one from Salobreña and one from Otívar.
The Guardia Civil police operation entitled Parcero, also netted six other suspects, as well as 1,2m euros in cash… and the odd luxury car.
Oh, and they decommissioned two illegal installation, one of which contained 618 cannabis plants in a dwelling in Montefrío, but the main earner was a cocaine distributing network reaching out from cuddly Granada.
The first laboratory, located in Boadilla del Monte (Madrid), was just on the point of coming into action, with everything in place, including an extensive indoor nursery. But it was in industrious little Salobreña, where the second laboratory was discovered (*knuckles back a tear of pride*) which was capable of churning out ten kilos of cocaine a day. Who says there is no initiative in Salobreña?
From there it went out to distribution points in the north of the Comunidad de Madrid: Pozuelo de Alarcón, Boadilla del Monte, Hoyo de Manzanares, even the city itself.
Around the beginning of December, the Segovia HQ for the Guardia Civil began the final phase of the police operation with the arrest of a man in Otívar.
The drug network came unstuck in the province of Segovia known as the Tierra de Pinares, which is where the drugs reached the consumers. From there the police tugged at the end of the thread and the rug unravelled.
So, after seven property searches; Salobreña amongst them and the arrest of eight suspect: R.A. from Otívar, A.D. & E.I.R. in Salobreña – the others from thoroughly uninteresting places as far as the Gazette is concerned.
The drugs haul? nearly 30 kilos of cocaine, most of which was still in paste form, 3.9k of hashish, 16.5k of marijuana, 112 gr of speed, and 25 kilos of illegal tobacco.
It’s worth pointing out that head of the Salobreña laboratory was no cuddly bunny and was laying low with an international arrest warrant against him. He also possessed false passports giving him Mexican and Gibraltar-British passport.
