Bridge Death Trial

AND Puenta Tablate OnLMany will remember the bungee-jumping accident last summer which led to the death of a 23-year-old British woman. The incident has now reached trial.

The Public Prosecutor is recommending 2-year prison sentences for the owner of the adventure-sports company, Activitisports, and for the instructor in charge of the activity on that day in July 2015.

The prosecution considers her death manslaughter through gross negligence, for which he also recommends that the two accused, and the insurance company, Millennium Seguros, jointly pay 200,000 euros in compensation to her legal heirs.

The accident occurred on the Tablate Bridge (El Pinar/Lanjarón) where there was only one monitor present (the co-accused) in charge of 13 jumpers. According to the police investigation none of them had received any written information on safety measures or procedure.
