Motril Port saw an emergency drill for the evacuation of a ferry in distress. This was the second part of a 2-day drill.
The ferry involved was Volcán de Timanfaya belonging to the shipping line Armas.
The drill, which included the launching of lifeboats and the deployment of emergency shutes on both sides, was overseen by the Maritime Authority, whose task it is to award safety certificates for passenger ships.
Volcán de Timanfaya, which does the run between Motril and the Moroccan cities of Nador and Alhucemas, has a carrying capacity for 1,000 passengers.
