The reason for the visit was to see how the bilingual system was going since the beginning of the school year last month. Las Gaviotas joins ten other junior schools around the region within the Red de Colegios Bilingües de Andalucía.
The First Councillor for La Herradura, Sr. Ruiz Joya, pointed out that the Town Hall had invested 140,000 euros on the school in recent years and plans to spend more to “respond to outstanding points.”
Some of the improvements have been the overhaul of the school yard and the installation of aircon in the infants classrooms. The parents’ association also now has an office.
Las Gaviotas has children of 33 different nationalities amongst its pupils.
