A hiker was injured after falling ten metres off a cliff above Playa El Cañuelo, which is within the Municipality of Nerja.

The accident, which occurred around 14.45h today, resulted in an area of the beach being cleared of bathers to make way for the landing of the rescue helicopter, which caused quite a stir.

It appears that the victim, who suffered multiple fractures, was a foreigner, although the nationality is not presently known.
