White Night

LHR Noche en Blanco OnLLa Herradura held its Noche en Blanco on Saturday the 3rd in the setting of the old town with works of art, dance poetry & musical performances etc.

For around two hours there was music, poetry recitals and the colourful movement of dancers in traditional costumes, right in the very heart of the village, bringing life to these secluded streets.

The First Councillor for the village, Juan José Ruiz Joya, inaugurated the evening’s entertainment which had its venue on Calle Canalejas, next to the bust of Pepe Gámez – the stage was mounted under a pomegranate tree.

He thanked local artists and artistes, especially the art association Arte Sur, for their collaboration in the event.

The first performance was by the young violinist from the village, Mercedes Barnet, who scraped a mean bow.

This was followed by another local, the poet Reinaldo Jiménez, who read out some of his poems dedicated to La Herradura Bay and childhood.

Laura López Zárraga, originally from Navarra but now a resident in the village, read poetry and sang, which was followed by Alma Flamenca who performed several dances.

As for the artwork on display, there were works by María del Carmen Prados, Laura López Zárraga, Ángeles Raya, Marikilla, Estudio de Arte Rosario González, Doris Pizarro, Renate Van Nijen, Kitty Sewell, Antonio González, Martín Morales, Antonio Arellano y Lola Salado, amongst others.
