A young man has been arrested in Almuñécar, accused of attempted murder after allegedly stabbing another young man twice.

The incident occurred in the early hours of the 28th of August when the 21-year-old accused and a friend (who is also being investigated by the Guardia Civil) started an argument with a group of youngsters in the nightlife area of Almuñécar, known as Los Bajos del Altillo.

More specifically, they insulted the young women in the group and their male companions came out in their defence. A violent argument broke out during which the accused, who has no criminal record, got out a knife and stabbed one of the young males twice in the stomach and also produced a cut in his neck.

The victim was rushed to Santa Ana Hospital in Motril where he was operated on twice.

The accused has been sent to the provincial jail to await trial.
