T
he Almuñécar Guardia Civil have had to make another arrest; this time a 24-year old accused of muggings and sexual aggression.
The incident took place on the 26th at 23.00h near Playa Puerta del Mar, when the accused allegedly approached a group of teenagers and threatened them with a screwdriver in order to get them to hand over their valuables.
Not content with this, the suspect reportedly threatened the female members of the group with the same weapon, forcing them all to give him a kiss.
Only one of the victims, a 16-year old, decided to report the incident to the police; the others, apparently, did not dare to for fear of reprisal.
Then on the 30th of August, according to the police report, the accused carried out another mugging on a 15-year old, stealing his mobile – this was at 01.45h in Plaza Damasco, but this time using a knife.
This is far from the first time that this man has been arrested; it is in fact the seventh time this year.
Editorial comment: up before a judge and released pending trial… When are they going to change the law and put such dangerous individuals behind bars the first time around, pending trial. If it were a first arrest, that would be different, but habitual criminals taking advantage of the ridiculously slow judicial/penitentiary system, is quite another thing.
