Around 40 people were evacuated from their homes in the coastal village of La Mamola at the eastern Costa Tropical because of a fire in a restaurant.

The incident occurred yesterday, Wednesday the 17th around 05.00h when the 112 emergency service received a call from a concerned neighbour who said that there was a strong smell of burning and smoke was coming out of the ground floor of a 3-storey building on Calle Doctor Sánchez Moreno.

Although 40 people were asked to leave their homes whilst the fire was being tackled, they were soon allowed to return after the fire was put out.
