Fishermen Adrift Rescued

MOT Salvamar HamalThe 3-man crew of a Moroccan fishing boat was rescued about 20 nautical miles off Motril after having spent five days adrift.

The rescue mission began last night when the Moroccan embassy informed the Spanish authorities that one of their fishing boats had gone missing and asked for the collaboration of the Guardia Civil, maritime branch, Salvamento Marítimo.

It was just after midday Monday the 1st that the Spanish trawler, Francisco y Yolanda‘ sighted the missing vessel, named Intisar. The Spanish boat remain in company with the Moroccan one until the Guardia Civil rescue launch arrived.

The Spanish Coast-Guard launch, SalvamarHamal, brought the three crew members, reported to be in good health, into Motril port.
