A 52-year-old paraglider pilot from Poland died on the 23rd near Loja after plummeting some 100 metres. The accident occurred shortly after take off.
The man, resident of Cabra in Córdoba, died within moments after the impact against abrupt, rocky ground near an area known as La Casilla del Chaparral, according to the emergency services.
The victim, who was a member of the Cabra paragliding club, had travelled with friends to this popular paragliding location.
It is still not known what caused the accident.
