The World Wild Life Fund has been campaigning this week in Almuñécar with its solar-powered catamaran and tomorrow is the last day, so don’t miss it!
The campaign is designed to increase people’s awareness of the diversity of the ecosystem under the waves just off our beaches, which is why they have been taking visitors on board this very singular craft to do short trips along the local coastline.
There is also an information booth in Plaza de Abderramán (that’s the little square opposite the steps up to the rock with cross on top in Almuñécar), which also serves as an activity workshop for kids and the kids at heart.
The kiddies’ activities include drawing, colouring, a short film and exposition on the ‘mysteries of the depths.’
For adults there are informative films, interactive applications and wine, women & song... OK, scrap those three; let’s just stick to the applications and films.
Now Friday, being the last day, there will also be a seabed cleaning expedition with local diving-club volunteers supplying the bubbles and labour force. Our friends at Open Water in La Herradura will be amongst the flippered helpers, of course.
So, we’re talking about Friday the 15th between 10.00h and 13.30h in and around the Marina del Este for the seabed cleaning operation. The Marina is the meeting and starting point.
Therefore, you can pop along to the Marina for the clean up and see the WWF solar-powered catamaran and/or pop along to the Plaza de Abderramán for the information both info, films and activities.
