Not Again!

AND Roquetas shopping centreThe Guardia Civil in Roquetas de Mar rescued a 3-month-old baby from a parked car, where it had been left whilst the parents went shopping.

It was a security guard at the shopping centre that noticed the baby in a car within the shopping centre car park at 10.45h on Tuesday the 12th, who reported his find to a Guardia Civil patrol that was covering that area.

If it is hot here in the province of Granada, imagine the temperature in Almería.

The parents had left a small gap at the top of each front window but the child was in obvious distress and showed signs of sweating on its face.

Calculating that the baby had already spent 20 minutes in this condition and that the parents had not appeared, the policemen tried to open the car using the small gaps in the windows. After a struggle the policeman managed to open the front door and thus the back door.

Although the child was crying and was red in the face (which could have been from crying as well as the heat), it was in good health and was not suffering from heat exposure.

Very soon after the parents arrived, who were then asked to accompany the policemen to the Guardia Civil post in Roquetas de Mar to answer questions. The parents said that they had left the baby where it was because it was soundly asleep and they didn’t want to wake him as they were not going to take long.

The police decided not to take action themselves but passed on a report to the Justice of the Peace.
