The 35-year-old man accused of killing his own baby of only 45 days in Campohermos, Almeria, had been lying low, waiting for a chance to escape the country and head for Morocco.

Hicham Bourass Bourjel, who is accused of violent abuse and murder managed to evade capture for just over a week and had purchased a launch to reach Morocco. However,the police tracked him down to a caravan in a shanty town near Pujaire (Cabo de Gata).

The particularly violent death of the baby took place on the 24th of June in a flat in Campohermos, as a result of an argument between the mother and the suspect, who were living together.

The baby had received a very severe head injury and died in hospital.
