ALP Lanjaron Solidarity OnLThe Alpujarra township of Lanjarón has been moved to help in the plight of the refugees on Europe’s frontiers; i.e., Greece, fleeing the civil war in Syria, as well as other conflicts.

The charity organization, Lanjarón Mira al Mundo, has collected 4,000 kg of medicine, foodstuffs, clothes, hygiene products, school material and toys, ready to be dispatched to the Greek refugee camps via Alhambra Internacional.

The Head of the organization, Lidia Rivas, expressed her gratitude to both the citizens of the town for their generous spirit, as well as the volunteers, who collected, sorted and packed into over 500 cardboard boxes the donated items.

“Whilst our government continue to take unfair decisions that leave us feeling ashamed f what is done in our name], acts of solidarity like this one are very necessary to counter such humanitarian crises,” she concluded.
