The FRS shipping line will commence a ferry passenger service between Motril and Tangiers, starting on the 24th of February.

The new service starts with a launching price of just 69 euros return for a passenger plus vehicle.

It was on the 27th of January that this shipping line began its freight service between these two cities and barely a month later they now offer a passenger service… despite the hiccups along the way caused by the Central Government not providing enough customs inspectors.

The ferry that will carry out the passenger service is Kattegat, which is capable of carrying 1,000 passengers and 340 vehicles.

”We are proud to be able to offer a freight and passenger service that we are sure will be a great help for the improvement of communications between the two shores of the Mediterranean,” explained Line Manager Motril-Tanger Med, José Carlos Delgado.

It is hoped that the service will peak during the summer months for the Operación Paso del Estrecho, (North Africans living in Europe returning to their home countries for their summer holidays).

During 2015, Motril saw the transit of 230,000 passengers; i.e. 12% more than the previous year.
