The Mayor of Motril, Flor Almón, was involved in a car accident on the 27th December, on the Puntalón road.

She was accompanied at the time by two other members of her team; Paco Cantalejo and Alicia Crespo, as well as the driver.

They were on their way to Los Tablones to visit the local fiesta there (belén viviente) when the car-derived van that they were travelling in swerved to avoid colliding with a car that was travelling in the opposite direction and ended up upside down off the road.

The four occupants were taken to Motril hospital where their slight injuries were treated, mainly bruises, so nobody needed to be kept in.
