Semi-Lynching of Wife Beater

PON AlomartesThe Guardia Civil in Illora in the west of the province continue to investigate the case of a group of people that attempted to lynch a man who allegedly stabbed his wife.

The victim had reportedly just stabbed his wife in a pub in Alomates, just 40 kilometres from the city of Granada.

Both the wife and the husband were taken to hospital to be treated for their injuries and both are said to be recovering. In fact, the woman has already left the hospital and returned home.

The incident occurred at three in the morning of Sunday the 1st of November during a Halloween party in this village of just over 2,000 inhabitants.

It was at that hour that the husband came into the pub and found his ex-wife at the party with a male companion. A heated argument soon broke out ending in the 40-year-old man allegedly attacking the 39-year-old woman with a knife.

The woman received a knife wound to the chest although the blade didn’t reach any vital organs.

What happened next is confused but it seems that the attacker was thrown out of the pub and once outside several people set upon him, having decided to take justice into their won hands and were close to having lynched him when the Guardia Civil turned up.

The police found the man lying in the road having received a thorough beating. He was taken to Granada’s Hospital de Traumatología and treated for breakages and bruises… bless his cotton socks.

Whilst laying in his hospital bed he was read his rights and later that day taken into police custody.

The police are looking into the attack on the assailant… sort of.

(Note: Lynch is not strictly the right word, as nobody tried to hang him; just seriously alter his skeletal configuration…)
