Motril Dock Extension Finished

MOT Dock Extension OnLThe Minister of Public Works, Ana Pastor, inaugurated the dock extension at the Azucenas end of Motril Port on Friday the 15th.

She announced that it had been the “most important investment on the port in recent history.” The total budget for the work was 14.5m euros.

The work consisted of extending the existing dock wall out a further 300 metres, thus solving the lack of shelter in Las Azucenas dock. It can now take passenger ships up to 250 metres long.

Another part of the work was the dredging of the port entrance, making it easier for heavily laden freighters to enter and leave the port.

Lastly, included in the project was a breakwater for Playa Azucenas which is situated right next to the dock.

Editorial comment: Funny, that… the A-7 was finished off and now the port work…. just 30 days before the inauguration prohibition running up to the December General Election. Quite a coincidence, eh? You don’t think…. Nah!
