Almuñécar Hikers Alpujarra Outing

ALM Walkers Outing OnLThe Almuñécar Walkers Club were up in the Alpujarra, tucked away in woodlands and hill paths – lucky blighters!

They had a good stomp around La Acequia del Almiar and la Grande. The route was easy, according to the guides, which means nobody was left for dead… Seriously, though, just under 20 kilometres, which the 35 participants thoroughly enjoyed.

Chief guide, Enrique Garín described the route as, “A route taking in trees of great size, including the centenary chestnut trees towards the end of the walk.”

The route was between Capileira at the top of the Poquiera valley, to Cañar at the top of Valle Río Chico, with a good deal of mist, descending towards Cañar, where the bus home was waiting.

The next walk will be much closer to home, amongst the tropical orchards of lentegí, Otívar and Jete. Despite it being so close to hand, many are unaware of its beauty say Enrique Garín.
