The Mayor of Salobreña has announced that as the actual location of the bus stop is in a central position, a temporary facility will be built there – see previous article.

So, until the funds arrive for what will be the future bus station on the other side of the N-340 – near the access roundabout, a part of the school playground will be used to build a boarding platform and waiting area for passengers.

Funds destined for agricultural projects will be used to finance this provision arrangement, totally some 122,000 euros. Furthermore, around 50 unemployed locals will be hired to build it, providing a double benefit for the town.

The new installations will used 1,685 sq/m of surface area, which, by the way, will eventually be used as a sports ground for the school.

The school area will be separated from the extended bus stop by a 2-metre high breeze-block wall.

There will also be a 40 sq/m building to house the public toilets, waiting room, which will be converted into changing rooms for the school once the new bus station has been built.

The intention of the Town Hall is that money won’t be wasted on building a temporary bus-stop area until the bus station is built, but that the installations will later be of use for the school – two birds with one stone.
