Before you conjure up images from Jaws, the following encounter between the two was in the Almuñécar Aquarium – and it was amicable – nobody ate anybody.
I mean, if you take your kids to a sea-life aquarium, you expect to see fishes blowing bubbles at you, but not so much scuba divers, which made it just that little bit more special for visitors on the 1st of September.
The divers entered the 1-million-litre, tunnel tank; i.e., where there is a 20-metre long corridor right through the tank for visitors to get the feel of actually being part of the sub-aquatic panorama. This is also the tank where the sharks are kept.
So what were the divers doing there? Well, they are employees of the Aquario and enter the tank to carry out maintenance and cleaning. However, normally this is done outside visiting hours.
The management has decided, thanks to the interest shown by visitors, to shift the maintenance tasks into visiting hours whenever possible.
Oh, and the Aquario has new visiting times, which came into force on the 1st of September: 10.00h to 14.00h & 17.00h to 21.00h.
