The PA opposition party in Salobreña has called on the Town Council to turn empty building plots into summer parking areas.
Party Spokesman, Juan Collado Flores, demands that the governing party attends to several complaints from locals concerning overgrown, publicly owned building plots that desperately need clearing out.
These same areas, he points out, have been cleared and used as temporary parking areas during the summer months in previous years.
The Town Hall, he claims, “is doing nothing about the state that they are in, which is giving them a lamentable appearance and at the same time is not giving them over to public use as alternative and free parking for the beach areas.”
Editorial comment: whilst one would agree that these areas would best used by opening them up to parking for the summer visitors, how exactly is the Town Hall supposed to explain this “unfair competition” to the company that runs the Blue Zones? Perhaps, somebody should have thought of that before introducing the system in the first place.
