The Never-Ending Story

MOT illegal immigrants OnLLast night saw the arrival at Motril Port of 30 immigrants intercepted out at sea by the Guardia Civil.

Amongst the exhausted group were four women and a minor, all of whom received first-aid treatment from Red Cross volunteers waiting at the port.

They were spotted 15 nautical miles from the Isla de Alborán, which is about half way to Morocco, yesterday afternoon (Wednesday the 15th).

The Maritime Rescue ship, Salvamar Hamal, crewed by the Guardia Civil, was dispatched to intercept them and bring them in.

We receive many people during the summer; some from the north who spend their savings to have a holiday, and some from the south who spend their savings to attempt a new life; the former don’t normally risk their lives to achieve their dream, whereas the latter most certainly do.
