Summer’s here and so is the Playa Cantarriján shuttle service for beach users – no cars or motorbikes are permitted access to the beach.
The only difference this year is that it is a local, Almuñécar transport company that nailed the contract Gonzamatic (Manuel González Matías S.L).
The service, which is organized by the Junta de Andalucia, has been in place since 2007 and although private vehicles are denied access, delivery drivers and official vehicles do have access. The entrance to the beach, which is on the N-340, is manned by an employee from the shuttle-service company to ensure that no private vehicles slip past.
The service came into force on the 1st of July and will last until the 31st of August with a timetable that runs from 09.00h to 21.00h every day.
