A fire on Motril’s Calle Comunidad Castilla León resulted in a local policeman and a fireman being briefly hospitalized with smoke inhalation.
The fire broke out around 05.00h, Friday the 3rd in a garage under the block of flats, Edifício Versalles, causing copious amounts of black smoke. As a result the street was closed to traffic and some of the block residents were evacuated.
By 07.00h the fire service had put the fire out and the block residents were allowed back into their homes.
According to the Motril municipal police the fire was deliberate, allegedly caused by two youths who had tried to steal a car; both are in police custody.
Fortunately, nobody was hurt – accept for the policeman and fireman – but three cars were damaged in the fire.
