Motril Coffers Empty?

motril socialist leader flor almonThe New Mayor of Motril, Flor Almón, has complained, after a week in office, that there is “not one euro left” of the 2015 Budget.

In other words, there are no funds to even pay the salaries of the Town Hall staff.

Despite this, she says that she is still filled with enthusiasm for carrying out her term of office, although she laments that her father, who died in January, is not alive to see this proudest moment of her life.

Soon after the euphoria of having obtained the Mayor’s Office subsided, she sat down with the Town Hall civil servants, to let them know that her office door will always be open should they have any problems, etc.

However, the meeting turned up the disagreeable news from the Municipal Treasurer that the 2015 Budget is completely exhausted with still half the year to go.

But she has decided to confront the situation with complete honesty and if there are no funds to carry out roadworks on a particular street, then she will say so and will not lie: “There’s no money and that’s all there is to it.”

She is also shaving off 12,000 euros off Mayor Office staff expenses.

Editorial comment: Good luck, Flor; you’re going to need it!
