A 13-year-old high-school student, armed with his father’s crossbow, allegedly went on a rampage at his school, killing one and wounding four.

The incident took place this morning at the Joan Fuster High School in the Sagrera area of Barcelona city.

The dead teacher was giving Social Sciences classes to cover for a female teacher who was off sick.

The alleged aggressor was armed with a machete, crossbow and an air pistol firing ball bearings.

According to fellow pupils who witnessed the incident, the first victim, who was wounded, was a female Language teacher. Classes had begun at 08.00h but the minor arrived at 09.00h and her class was his first subject.

The next victim, say witnesses, was the daughter of the Language teacher and classmate of the 13-year old, who received a stab wound in the leg.

Hearing the screams coming from the nearby classroom the Social Science teacher ran in to find out what was happening only to receive a fatal machete blow.
