The man, who was responsible for several armed robberies in France, had been using a forged identity document and driving licence.
The Spanish police had been following a lead and used a special operations unit to pick him up as he was leaving a shopping centre with his girlfriend, using a European Arrest Warrant.
Meanwhile, down in Fuengirola, Málaga the police arrested a 28-year-old British citizen who was also on the run. The man belonged to a gang, specialized in burglary.
In one such robbery in May last year, they got away with 1,300 pounds sterling, jewellery and two passports after beating up their victims.
All told, the Grupo de Localización de Fugitivos collared 270 fugitives from the Law during 2014, for crimes such as murder, drugs, hold ups and sex crimes, amongst others.
Amongst the 270 criminals were 37 from Romania, 29 from Germany, 23 from Italy, 23 from the United Kingdom, 18 from France, 16 from Belgium… and a partridge in a pear tree.
